What Is Invisalign and How Does It Work?
Invisalign is a modern alternative to traditional metal braces. It uses clear, plastic aligners to gently and consistently shift your teeth into proper alignment. You’ll wear one aligner for about two weeks before switching to the next one in the series.
Unlike metal braces, the aligners are clear and removable, so you can eat, brush, and floss without any restrictions. Plus, Invisalign can effectively treat a range of dental concerns, including:
- Crooked teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Overbites, underbites, and crossbites
- Crowded teeth

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Invisalign cost compared to traditional braces?
Treatment with Invisalign clear aligners may cost slightly more than metal braces but the treatment time for Invisalign is typically shorter, perhaps as little as half the time of metal braces. For this reason as well as the greater comfort of Invisalign aligners, this method of correcting smile alignment is very popular with Tower Dental Arts patients. To provide this alignment correction for our patients, we provide a series of clear Invisalign aligners. Each patient wears each unobtrusive aligner for two weeks and then changes to the next aligner in the series. To learn how Invisalign can give you a more beautiful smile, contact Tower Dental Arts!
Which is better for teeth straightening, Invisalign or braces?
For your typical smile misalignment problems and even minor bite problems, Invisalign is the perfect solution. The time of treatment with Invisalign is generally shorter than with metal braces, sometimes taking half as long. Invisalign clear aligners are also more comfortable than metal braces. However, they can’t correct every misalignment or bite problem. If there are severely rotated teeth or serious misalignments or bite problems, metal braces may be required. We are pleased to provide Invisalign clear aligners to many of our patients who want to improve their smiles! Reach out to Tower Dental Arts to learn if you are a good candidate for Invisalign!
Can Invisalign fix gaps, crowding, or minor overbites?
Treatment with Invisalign clear aligners can correct all three problems: gaps between teeth, tooth crowding and minor overbites. When we treat these problems at Tower Dental Arts, we first do a thorough examination and then provide the patient with a series of Invisalign acrylic aligners, each one of which is worn for two weeks. At that point, the patient changes to the next aligner in the series to keep moving teeth into their ideal positions. Serious misalignment, large gaps between teeth and severe overbites or underbites may require conventional braces. Contact Tower Dental Arts to learn how we can improve your smile!
How do I take care of my aligners?
First, be sure to remove them any time you eat and whenever you drink anything other than plain water. Rinse them before returning them to your mouth. Wear them at least 20 hours each day and clean them and your teeth thoroughly when you get up in the morning. You can brush them with a soft-bristled toothbrush or use an ultrasonic cleaner. To protect your teeth, brush your teeth after eating and before returning the aligners to your mouth. Soak them once a day in Invisalign cleaning crystals (remember to rinse thoroughly). How long does Invisalign treatment take to see results?
While a complete Invisalign treatment usually takes 12 to 18 months, you could begin seeing slight changes within the first two or three weeks. Within three to six months, you should notice bite corrections or more major movements of your teeth. Younger patients will generally see improvement faster because their bones are more flexible. To see the fastest results, of course, one should wear the aligners for 20 hours each day, very consistently. At Tower Dental Arts, we schedule regular checkups for our patients with Invisalign aligners so we can monitor their progress. Do you need to correct the alignment of your smile?
